Your Grip can make the difference!
Types of Grip
There are more instructional books written about golf then any other sport and chapter one in most golf books is the same. It’s about the grip. Most people don’t ever read it yet it’s the most important chapter in all of golf instruction. The reason why is because it’s the only part of the body that is attached to the golf club. If you don’t do that right then the game is near impossible.
Now there are three basic grips and the first I don’t advocate at all. It’s the baseball grip. It’s just like gripping a baseball bat, all ten fingers on the club. The two most popular grips are the Vardon grip invented by the late Harry Vardon, where he decided to rest the little finger of the right hand (if you’re a right hander) over the left hand.
Now you may hear of the interlocking grip because Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. The only difference is that now the little finger interlocks with your pointer finger on your left hand. With the Vardon grip or the interlocking grip there should not be pressure in the |
 |
middle of the grip. Also hand size can play a roll in which grip you may want to use. For example smaller hands try the interlocking grip and for larger hands try the Vardon grip.
Importance of correct Grip
This instructional is all about gripping the golf club properly. A good grip helps you control the clubface throughout the golf swing. Letting your grip control of the clubface will help you achieve more consistent and accurate golf shots.
A poor grip can cause you to have inconsistent clubface control that can lead you to make swing compensations. Common swing compensations that should be avoided are bowing / cupping of the left wrist and rolling over of the arms, wrists and hands.
Use this drill to help you establish the proper left hand grip. Place the club in the center of the index finger of the left hand. The index finger supports the shaft as you balance the club underneath the pad of the left hand. Holding the club this way will give you a feel of how the club is positioned in the left hand.
Grip the club in the fingers of the left hand. The left thumb is placed down the right side of the shaft. The "V" that is formed by the left index finger and thumb should point at the right side of your face.
Take hold of the club with the fingers of the right hand. The "V" that is formed by the right thumb and index finger should point toward the right shoulder.
At the address position, you should see 2 ½ knuckles of your left hand. This grip position will help you cock your wrist correctly during the backswing and square up the clubface at impact. A square clubface at impact produces straight shots. If you are not gripping the club in this manner, it will take a few days to feel comfortable using this grip.
If you see less than 2 ½ knuckles, you are gripping the club with a weak left hand grip. A weak grip promotes more of a fading/slicing ball flight.

|
If you see more than 2 ½ knuckles, you are gripping the club with a strong left hand grip. A strong left hand grip promotes more a drawing/hooking ball flight.
At the three-quarter backswing position, you should again see 2 ½ knuckles of your left hand. This is the ideal position to be in at this point in the swing. If you are not seeing 2 ½ knuckles at this position, you will have to make a swing compensation to square up the clubface before reaching impact.
If you see more than 2 ½ knuckles, you have opened the clubface. You will have to close the clubface in order to square it up by impact or your ball flight will be to the right of your target.
If you see less than 2 ½ knuckles, you have closed the clubface. You will have to open the clubface in order to square it up by impact or your ball flight will be to the left of your target.

How does the Interlink Golf System work?
This system consists of 6 DVDs, over 9 hours of instruction, that take you step-by-step through the most revolutionary golf training techniques available today. Each DVD guides you through the techniques and then provides you with drills that you practice on the driving range and putting green. The drills can be done in 5-15 minutes each and are designed to help you practice shots (the same shots that you need to make on the course to shoot lower scores). As you progress through the drills your scores will go lower and lower. It's simple, it's easy and it works!

"Hi,
I am a PGA Apprentice and was looking at your web site and the video about cutting 8 steps to 2. I think that's a great idea, and the video clearly gets people to set up in the right position. I find it hard to get people to line up square (the way the PGA wants us to teach). Now, my experience has taught me that minimalism is the key to teaching the swing and I've watched everyone from Leadbetter, Suttie, Ballard, Bonar...etc teach the swing. I pick up very little from them, but most things I just don't like. Anyway, I do like what I saw in your videos. I like the way you lay the foundation down then address the swing path then address the two swings (non-release, release)."
Thank You

"Finally something new, I've seen just about every instructional DVD around and they all say the same thing. Problem is, they didn't work for me. It was way too complicated. I looked at the cover of the IGS DVD's and read about the "10 degree secret swing solution" and figured it was just hype. But, once I tried it I could see the genius in it. It really simplifies the swing. That's it, bottom line, it makes it easier to swing the club and make contact with the ball. And, that's what I did right out of the gate, I played the best round of my life after watching the DVD's. I'm watching them again and can hardly wait to play again in the spring."

"Sir, I watched your videos on putting chipping and driving and thought that your teachings are on point. I've just purchased the 'Plane truth’ book, which is great. I may very well use your lessons as a supplement to those teachings. I like the point you make on consistency by using the workshop. Great work. You are growing the game."
